This project summary identifies ten specific measures that can be implemented to mitigate the severity of impacts associated with water shortage events in the Milk River watershed.

Are you a beef producer who operates in the Milk River watershed? We want to give our producers an opportunity to spotlight what they do and why they do it!

The goal of the project is to allow residents of the Milk River watershed to celebrate the pioneering spirit of the community by identifying and nominating trees of local significance within the watershed.

The purpose of this program is to demonstrate outstanding environmental and conservation efforts that sustain, protect, and enhance the environment within the Milk River watershed.

This study assessed the impact of WPAC initiatives on municipal watershed management and planning.

In the climate we live in, low water landscaping is ideal. It requires minimal water and maintenance.

Funding was available to residents and agricultural producers to initiate a riparian restoration and stewardship. Please note that this funding is now closed.

With this project, MRWCC is partnering with the Geological Survey of Canada and they seek collaboration with resource managers, stakeholders and community members across all borders to better understand the common groundwater resource. 

The program forms the baseline for long-term water quality monitoring in the Milk River watershed.

Development of a method for differentiating fecal E. coli versus naturally occurring (environmental) E. coli in surface water

The MRWCC initiated the project to address the increased public concern regarding potential sources of fecal contamination in a few
locations on the Milk River.

It is important to maintain unused wells during prolonged periods of non-use. Settling of fine clay particles on infiltration galleries may cement wells in if they are not being regularly pumped.

This project seeks to understand long-term changes in macroinvertebrate communities within 5 selected reaches of the Milk River, in southern Alberta.

The supplemental water supply investigation aimed to determine the feasibility of augmenting summer flows in the Milk River with water drawn from the Milk River Ridge Reservoir located on the Waterton-St. Mary Headworks system (Klohn Crippen Berger Ltd. 2008).
