NEW: 3rd Edition Milk River Transboundary State of the Watershed Report

The Milk River Watershed Council Canada (MRWCC), in partnership with the South of the Divide Conservation Action Program (SODCAP) (Saskatchewan), and nearly 70 organizations, agencies, and individuals from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana, worked together to produce this report. This 3rd edition represents a watershed-scale assessment of the condition of water supplies and allocation, water quality, riparian and wetlands, biodiversity (fish, wildlife and plants), and land use. The report represents the shared knowledge of indigenous communities in the spirit of reconciliation; and truly lends itself to improved management through cooperation. The 2nd Edition Transboundary State of the Watershed Report was completed in 2013, and this new report expands on the research and monitoring conducted between 2013 and 2023, including significant events and changes to the management and landscape within the Milk River Watershed.

Print versions of the TSOW Summary are available for free now by request at the MRWCC office in Milk River Alberta. Print copies of the full report will be available February 2025 for the suggested donation of a minimum $40.00 CAD (shipping via Canada Post available for an extra fee). Reports will also be available at local libraries and schools throughput the watershed. Funding for this project generously provided in part by: The Government of Alberta, South of the Divide Conservation Action Program, and the International Joint Commission.
